One of the most popular and enduring amp designs from Dr. Z, the Carmen Ghia delivers 18 watts of pure, dynamic tube tone from a pair of EL84 power tubes. There's a warmth, complexity, and sustain to clean settings, achieving a roundness and depth that's fairly unique to this circuit in a world of EL84-based boutique amps. With simple Volume and Tone controls, this amp is very intuitive and easy to use, and the amp really shines when cranking up the Volume and pushing into sweet, saturated overdrive. The harmonic complexity and richness of the drive has made the Carmen Ghia a favorite for both stage and studio work.The tube complement includes a matched pair of JJ EL84 power tubes, JJ and Sovtek-branded valves in the preamp and a vintage Sylvania rectifier. The back panel has both 8 and 4 ohm speaker outs, and the U-prefix serial number dates the head to 2010. Cosmetically, the amp is exceptionally clean, with black tolex accented by salt & pepper grillcloth.
