Up for sale, a 2009 Rickenbacker model 310C64 in near mint, 100% original condition and perfect working order with a Montezuma Brown custom color gloss finish. A very rare model with sparingly few produced, the 310C64 is a USA-made instrument like all Rickenbackers, yet was distributed only within Japan as an exclusive for dealers in that country, making it far less common than other 300 series Rickenbacker models.

Essentially a two pickup version of the short scale model made famous by John Lennon in the early days of the Beatles, this guitar defers to the playability preferences of many Rickenbacker players who desire no central pickup, yet desire the look and feel of an early 3/4 scale. The pair of Toaster Top single coil pickups can be snappy and jangly or warm and detailed with the flip of a switch, and each pickup position is distinct, with ample top end sparkle. The guitar is featherweight at only 5lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with flatwound 12-54 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a round C-shaped profile carve, measuring .880" deep at the 1st fret and .895" at the 12th. On the extremely thick slab rosewood fretboard, the slender fretwire shows just a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3, playing cleanly up the 21" scale with a straight neck and responsive truss rod. The nut measures 1.650" in width, and the headstock features the classic lucite Rickenbacker truss rod cover and open-gear tuning machines which turn very smoothly with butterbean buttons.

All of the electronics work as intended, with two pairs of Volume and Tone knobs as well as Rickenbacker's smaller fifth blender knob. This knob has several different functions, such as acting as a tone blender between pickups and as a general EQ between the bass and treble tones of the guitar. Its primary function, however, is to serve as a bass pickup volume equalizer, allowing for the generally quieter bridge pickup to be brought up to comparable levels of volume with the neck pickup. The guitar has a mono output and 09-prefix serial on the jack plate.

This Rickenbacker is a stunning example, and the Montezuma Brown custom color finish further elevates the rarity of the instrument. Cosmetic wear is limited to just a few very faint finish scuffs in the clear coat of the gloss on the back and a tiny bit of finish checking adjacent to the tailpiece.

A hardshell case is included.
