Up for sale, a 2009 Gretsch Black Phoenix G6136SLBP in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, CoA, and hangtags. This discontinued hot-rodded iteration of the iconic Gretsch Falcon platform was designed in collaboration with rockabilly icon Brian Setzer, featuring TV Jones Classic Filter’Tron pickups, no-frills controls, Grover Imperial tuners, a Bigsby B6G vibrato, an Adjusto-Matic bridge, and a gloss Black nitro lacquer finish framed by silver sparkle binding. This particular Black Phoenix comes from the personal collection of Slipknot’s Jim Root, aka #4.
Featuring the classic tonewood complement of a ‘59-style trestle-braced maple body, maple neck, and bound ebony fingerboard, this guitar has loads of natural sustain and resonance on tap balanced by a glassy, immediacy and treble snap. The pair of TV Jones Classic Filter’Tron pickups have notable clarity, sparkle and muscle; the neck position Filter'Tron humbucker has a thick, silky tone, while the bridge position offers a cutting growl, midrange punch, and excellent note attack. Weighing 7lbs 12oz, this Black Phoenix has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
