Up for sale, a 2009 Gibson Les Paul Studio Raw Power in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This uncommon, discontinued iteration of the Les Paul Studio platform features a decidedly unique tonewood complement, with a solid maple body, carved maple top, and maple fretboard, resulting in an instrument that combines the Les Paul’s natural resonance and sonic heft with the articulation and focused treble attack inherent to maple as a tonewood. This particular example is from the original run of the Raw Power model, featuring a rare mahogany neck (as opposed to maple), loaded with a pair of ‘57 Classic humbuckers.The ‘57 Classic humbuckers have a classic PAF tonal profile; the neck pickup offers a sweetness and bell-like top end that's great for retaining clarity on solos and complex rhythm work, while the bridge pickup has more upper-midrange aggression and treble bite. This Les Paul Studio Raw Power weighs 8lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.The mahogany neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders in every register, gradually increasing in overall heft and substance further up the fretboard, measuring .830” deep at the 1st fret and .990” at the 12th. The slab maple fretboard has pearloid dot inlay, with a trapezoid inlay at fret 12 (a feature unique to the Raw Power series), and the medium jumbo fretwire is pristine. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures 1 11/16” in width. On the headstock, the Gibson Deluxe double-line Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with very clean gold plating and greened keystone buttons. The D-string tuner arm has a slight bend that doesn't affect functionality.All of the electronics function as intended, with the ‘57 Classic humbuckers governed by a three-way pickup selector switch and independent pairs of Volume and Tone controls. The pickups are wired to the stock harness with Gibson-embossed Alpha pots, and the baseplates retain the “Patent Applied For” waterslide decals and dated stickers reading 4/29/09. Plastics comprise the quartet of black speed knobs, black switch tip and pickup surrounds, and transparent one-ply black pickguard. Original gold-plated hardware includes the Nashville-style bridge, stopbar tailpiece, and pickup covers.The satin Natural finish is exceedingly well-kept, with nary a scratch on the body. The satin finish on the neck profile is similarly immaculate.The original Gibson USA-branded brown tolex hardshell case is included.
