Up for sale, a 2009 Epiphone Zakk Wylde ZV Custom electric guitar in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtags. Originally conceived back in 1998, the ZV delivers all the raw performance and in-your-face presence that exemplifies Zakk Wylde. With a double-cutaway SG top-half allowing for complete fingerboard access and radical Flying-V bottom-half for extreme attitude, the ZV has an aggressive look like no other.
The body is carved from solid mahogany and fitted with a glued-in hard maple neck. To compliment these tonewoods, the ZV is equipped with a set of EMG-HZ humbuckers, including an HZ-4 pickup in the bridge position and an HZ-4A pickup in the neck position, dishing out an onslaught of high gain crunch and sweet shreddy sustain. Further adding to the sustain of the instrument, the ZV uses Epiphone’s patent-applied-for LockTone Tune-o-Matic bridge that “locks” the bridge on the posts and makes string changes a breeze, while a string through body design ensures optimal resonance. Weighing 7lbs 14oz, this ZV Custom has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, fast action, and accurate intonation.
The hard maple SlimTaper neck profile amounts to a slender D shape with prominent shoulder, measuring .820” deep at the 1st fret and .870” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features a 12“ radius, block inlay, and stock medium jumbo frets. The frets are in great shape with good height and well-rounded crowns, showing faint wear on the crowns of frets 1-3 and virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The scale length is 24 3/4“, and the nut measures 1 11/16“ in width. The bound headstock features a split diamond inlay, Zakk Wylde Custom truss rod cover, and Zakk graphic on the back. The stock black set of Grover Rotomatic tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
On the body, the electronics work as they should, with a three-way toggle selector, individual Volume controls for each pickup, and a Master Tone. The black hardware and plastic parts are notably clean, and cosmetic wear on the Bullseye gloss finish is limited to a stray mark in the pick path on top, a tiny finish chip on the bass-side horn tip, and a few light light scuffs and tiny marks mostly relegated to the wing tips and body edges. The neck profile sports a pristine smooth satin finish.
The original hardshell case is included, featuring custom Zakk Wylde graphics and chain handle, and all of the original factory paperwork is included too.
