Up for sale, a 2009 Edwards ESP E-SA-138LTC semi-hollow 355-style electric guitar in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. A premium Japanese-made iteration of the 355 platform, the E-SA-138LTC features a solid carved maple top and back, a one-piece mahogany neck, factory-installed USA-made Seymour Duncan humbuckers, and a satin nitro lacquer Ebony finish.
Unlike a Gibson ES-355 which has all laminate body construction, this Edwards boasts a solid, carved maple top and back, delivering a cutting midrange and a bold, muscular low end. Dynamic and clear, these defining qualities translate well through the USA-made Seymour Duncan humbuckers, with an SH-2N Jazz in the neck position and SH-14 Custom Custom Custom at the bridge. The SH-2N boasts an Alnico V bar magnet and a special coil wind for a glassy treble response and full, tight bass, while scooped mids help each note to sing clearly even under high gain. The SH-14 is a brighter, Alnico V version of the popular Custom Custom humbucker. It has a full tone, also with some tailoring of the midrange, with a nice balance of bass and treble. The guitar weighs 9lbs, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The mahogany neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve at the nut with notable shoulder and heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .975" at the 12th. The bound ebony fretboard features pearl block inlay and the original flawless medium jumbo fretwire. The guitar plays easily up the straight neck and 24 3/4" scale with notes that ring out clearly in every register. The nut measures 42mm in width (1.650"), hand-carved from bone for optimal note clarity and sustain. The headstock has a traditional "open book" shape, and the Gotoh tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well with metal tulip buttons.
On the body, all of the electronics function as intended with dedicated Volume/Tone knobs for each humbucker and a three-way pickup selector toggle. The gold plating is clean on the ABR-1-style bridge, stopbar, and pickup covers, and plastics include a multi-ply pickguard (with some requisite pick scuffing) and quartet of black reflector cap knobs. The satin nitro lacquer Ebony finish is framed by deeply ambered multi-ply binding, and cosmetic wear is limited to a spot of finish wear and amateur touchup just beyond the treble-side F hole on the lower bout on top. Otherwise there are just a few light finish scratches on the body as a whole.
The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
