Up for sale, a 2009 Edwards by ESP E-PO-100D Potbelly electric guitar in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A rare instrument made in Japan under ESP's "Edwards" banner, this guitar delivers the goods with a solid mahogany body, carved maple top, and a mahogany neck capped with a bound rosewood fretboard, loaded with USA-made Seymour Duncan humbuckers wired to a premium USA wiring harness.
The Potbelly is a welcome twist on the traditional LP platform, with a familiar tonal profile, streamlined control layout, and unique body shape. The Seymour Duncan SH-55 Seth Lover neck position pickup is wound firmly in the PAF mold, producing a smooth, articulate tone yielding midrange warmth, a full low-end, and sweet treble response. The Alnico 2 bar magnet and vintage-spec wind ensure the rich, singing harmonic content of the PAF design. At the bridge, the P-Rails humbucker is a hybrid rail/P90 design, offering a powerful, midrange-forward punch and cut. This Potbelly weighs 8lbs 7oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The mahogany neck has a medium C shaped profile carve, measuring .840" deep at the 1st fret and .910" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features dot inlay and stock medium jumbo fretwire. The frets are in great shape with well-rounded crowns and their full factory height, showing just a hint of wear under the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-3, and virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The guitar plays cleanly in every register up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod and 12” fretboard radius. The scale length is 24 3/4“, and the nut is a hand-carved piece of bone, ensuring optimal note clarity and sustain, measuring 1 11/16" in width. The headstock features an upgraded set of chrome USA-made Sperzel locking tuners.
The electronics function as intended, with the humbucker pair wired to a three-way pickup selector switch and Master Volume and Tone knobs. The harness features full-size USA pots and a premium Sprague Orange Drop tone capacitor. The nickel hardware shows just a dusting of patina on the Tune-o-Matic bridge and stopbar, and the original plastic parts include amber speed knobs, amber switch tip, and cream pickup surrounds. Cosmetic wear is limited to stray finish chips on the back lower bout edge and tip of the headstock, as well as a few light finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss. The neck sports a pristine smooth gloss finish.
A gigbag is included.
