Up for sale, a 2008 Ibanez Prestige model RG2550Z in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, strap, and manual. A first-year example of the RG2550Z, this guitar was built at the Fujigen factory in Japan as part of Ibanez’s high-end Prestige line. It sports a gloss sparkle Galaxy Black finish, trio of special design Dimarzio IBZ pickups, and an Edge-Zero tremolo system with Zero Point System 3 stabilizer. With a basswood body and five piece maple/walnut neck capped with a rosewood fretboard, this RG2550Z offers a well-balanced acoustic profile, providing an excellent foundation for the pickup complement. A triple pickup HSH affair with a five-way blade pickup selector, both the humbuckers featured on the RG2550Z are high-output models. The neck pickup is fairly bright-sounding, similar to a Super 2 (DP104). The bridge pickup has additional volume and warmth, resembling a cross between the Steve Morse Bridge Model (DP200) and the Super Distortion (DP100). The centrally located R1 single coil is warmer-sounding than a typical vintage single coil, designed to work well with the humbuckers when coil-tapped (positions 2-4 on the switch). The guitar weighs 7lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action and spot-on intonation. The maple and walnut five-piece neck has Ibanez's revered Wizard shape, which is notably slender and fast-feeling, measuring .740” deep at the 1st fret and .825” at the 12th. The bound 24 fret rosewood fretboard features wedge sharktooth inlay and jumbo fretwire. The frets have their full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing no wear and playing effortlessly up the arrow straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The guitar boasts a full 25 1/2" scale length and 43mm nut width (just fractionally wider than 1 11/16"). The headstock has original cosmo black Gotoh tuners and a Top Lok locking nut that ensures optimal tuning stability even with heavy tremolo use. On the back of the headstock, the Allen wrench holder is present, along with the Team J Craft logo and serial number. The body has a simple and sleek control layout, with a five-way pickup selector switch and Master Volume and Tone knobs. The Edge-Zero tremolo with Zero Point System 3 (ZPS3) stabilizer is greatly prized by many players thanks to its extremely stable, highly responsive functionality necessary for smooth flutters and deep dives enabled by the trem’s stud lock. Beside increasing overall stability and snappiness, the ZPS3 also allows for much easier adjustment and setup of the tremolo. The Cosmo Black hardware is in excellent condition, displaying a light patina across the tops of the domed, knurled knobs and on the trem’s fine tuners. The Smoke Mirror pickguard is also very clean, with only some very light scuffing along the pick path.Cosmetic wear on the gloss Galaxy Black finish is limited to a handful of light scratches and dings across the body, particularly concentrated along the bass-side lower bout and where the forearm crosses the top. The satin finish on the neck profile is smooth and clean save for one small ding on the treble-side shoulder at fret 2 that has no impact on playability. The original hardshell case is included, along with the manual and Ibanez-branded strap.
