Up for sale, a 2008 Gibson Explorer Faded electric guitar in excellent condition and in perfect working order with a satin nitro lacquer Worn Cherry finish and original hardshell case. Well-kept for over a decade, this Gibson is loaded with the original 496R and 500T humbuckers. The guitar has plenty of power on tap, and the stock ceramic magnet humbuckers are focused and cutting, with a sound that pushes your amp hard with a tone that compresses nicely and stays tight and manageable especially in high gain scenarios. The radically shaped mahogany body adds inherent warmth and fullness to the sound too, working in concert with the thick slab rosewood fretboard. The guitar weighs 8lbs, with a sweet, natural sustain and rich acoustic resonance that translates well through the humbuckers. This Explorer has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 11-49 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender, fast-feeling "60s" C shaped profile with ideal roundness in the shoulders thanks to the particularly thick and dark slab rosewood fretboard. The profile measures .800” deep at the 1st fret and .855” at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard features dot inlay, and the stock slender frets have ample height and crown, showing only light wear beneath the G and B strings on frets 1-7. The guitar plays effortlessly up the straight neck with a responsive, ideally adjusted truss rod. The scale length is 24 3/4“, and the nut measures 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the original chrome mini Grover tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well.

All of the electronics work as they should, with individual Volume controls for each pickup and a Master Tone control. The tone capacitor has been upgraded to a Sprague Orange Drop, and a pickup cover has been added to the neck position humbucker. The hardware includes the original gleaming chrome Nashville bridge and corresponding stoptail, and the plastic parts include the original trio of black speed knobs and black single-ply pickguard. Cosmetic wear on the thin satin nitro lacquer Worn Cherry finish is limited to a few tiny nicks on the back body edge and some light finish scratches on the back, mostly concentrated at the treble-side waist and extending across the control cavity cover. There are also a few minor marks on the inside edge of the treble side body cutaway.

The original black tolex Gibson hardshell case with white plush interior is included.
