Up for sale, a 2008 Gibson Explorer '76 vintage reissue model in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Via the original 496R and 500T humbucker pair, the guitar has plenty of power on tap, and these ceramic magnet pickups are focused and cutting, pushing an amp hard with ample punch and bass-register clarity, ideal for high gain scenarios. The radically shaped solid mahogany body adds inherent warmth and fullness to the sound too. The guitar weighs a modest 8lbs 1oz, with healthy natural sustain and a rich acoustic resonance that translates well through the humbuckers. This Explorer has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action and spot-on intonation. The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender, fast-feeling C-shaped profile carve at the nut with full shoulders in every register, measuring .810" deep at the 1st fret and .870" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard has a 12" radius and features the original practically perfect medium frets with good height and well-rounded crowns. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and ideally adjusted, responsive truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock retains the original mini Grover Rotomatic tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well. All of the electronics function as intended, with individual Volume controls for each pickup and a Master Tone control. The humbuckers have "Gibson USA"-embossed baseplates, and the wiring harness features Gibson-branded Alpha pots and a premium Orange Drop tone capacitor. The chrome hardware and black speed knobs are particularly clean, and there's some requisite pick scuffing across the strum path. The gloss Ebony nitro lacquer finish exhibits some touched-up dings behind the bridge on top and on the bass-side body point, with buckle rash on the back and various small nicks and scuffs from honest use on the body as a whole. There is a very small, shallow repaired split in the mahogany just to the treble side of the forward strap button. The neck profile retains its smooth, nigh flawless gloss. The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
