Up for sale, a 2008 Fender American Vintage '62 “Thin Skin” Jazzmaster FSR in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original G&G hardshell case. This exceedingly rare FSR (Factory Special Run) Jazzmaster was produced in a limited run of just 100 instruments exclusively for Fender’s Japanese distributor Yamano. Features include a "Thin Skin" nitro lacquer Candy Apple Red finish with no poly basecoat, and unlike Thin Skin runs for USA-dealers which had a modern spec’d fretboard radius and larger fretwire, this Jazzmaster retains a vintage spec 7 ¼” radius and slender 6230 vintage-style frets.
Weighing 8lbs 2oz, tonewoods include an alder body and a maple neck capped by a slab rosewood fingerboard. The pickup pair offers a range of powerful and defined tones, with sparkling cut in the bridge position, and smoother, warmer tonalities at the neck. The American Vintage single coils are wound with a bit more midrange push than vintage Jazzmaster pickups, lending these coils a certain presence and a touch more fullness than many other Jazzmaster winds. Switching to the Rhythm Circuit on the lower body horn engages a dedicated circuit for the neck pickup with a darker, wooly tonal color. This American Vintage '62 “Thin Skin” Jazzmaster FSR has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The Candy Apple Red has some texturing in the gloss where the forearm crosses the top, with some additional subtle texturing in the metalflake on the body contours. There’s one decently-sized shallow ding on the bass-side edge on top (worn smooth) and a few additional dings and scuffs from use. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is smooth and clean.
The original G&G brown tolex hardshell case is included.
***We are dealers for the Mastery bridge, OMV-P Offset Vibrato, and Lollar pickups, any or all of which can be installed prior to shipment for an additional charge***
