Up for sale, a 2008 Fender Stratocaster ‘62 vintage reissue model ST62-US in showroom-clean, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, finished in custom color Rebel Yellow. This “Made in Japan” Strat is an upscale iteration rarely seen outside of its country of origin, featuring Fender American Vintage 57/62 pickups.
Designed to pay homage to the golden era Pre-CBS Strat circa 1962, this model features a tonewood complement including a basswood body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard. The factory-installed Fender American Vintage 57/62 pickups match vintage spec with staggered alnico magnets, black fiber bobbins and cloth-covered leads. The bridge pickup provides biting twang and cut, while the "in-between" positions on the five-way pickup selector switch have a snappy, thinned-out quack. The neck pickup is bold and round with a throaty zing that's harmonically rich and great for lead work. This Strat weighs 8lbs, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with notably round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .835” deep at the 1st fret and .950” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4” radius and retains the stock slender fretwire. The frets have their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, showing virtually no wear. This Strat plays cleanly up the 25 1/2” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The bone nut measures 42mm (1.650”) in width. The headstock sports a small Pre-CBS shape and “spaghetti” logo, and the Kluson-style tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Made in Japan” text and T-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate, and the neck pocket retains the factory stamps denoting the model and color, as well as a date stamp reading 06-16-08.
On the body, the electronics all work as they should, with three Fender USA-made 57/62 alnico magnet black bobbin single coils wired to the stock harness with untouched solder joints. The pickups are governed by a five-way pickup selector switch and standard Volume/Tone/Tone controls. The vintage-style vibrato is faithful to Fender's early 1960's design with a full-size trem block, actuating easily for quick surfy warbles and deeper dives. The chrome hardware is positively gleaming and plastics are near mint, comprising cream pickup covers and knobs and a pale mint green three-ply pickguard.
The gloss Rebel Yellow finish is a particularly rare custom color on this model, and there's barely a scratch on the instrument. The ambered gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
