Up for sale, a 2008 Fender Stratocaster '57 vintage reissue model in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Crafted in Japan, this guitar was made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and is rarely seen outside its country of origin with a custom color Candy Apple Red gloss finish. This guitar matches '50s spec with a gloss-finished maple fingerboard, single-ply pickguard, and trio of single coil pickups. The ceramic pickups have more punch and cut than traditional alnico magnets, while still offering a bevy of familiar Stratocaster tonalities via the five-way pickup selector switch. The guitar weighs 8lbs 4oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C profile carve with modest shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .823" deep at the 1st fret and .926" at the 12th. The maple fingerboard has a gloss finish with pristine original slender frets. The guitar plays cleanly in all registers up the straight neck with an ideally adjusted and responsive truss rod. The guitar adheres to vintage Fender spec with a 7 1/4" fretboard radius on the 25 1/2" scale, and the nut measures 1 5/8" in width. On the headstock, the Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines have the correct vintage look, turn smoothly, and hold pitch well.
The stock electronics work as they should, with a five-way selector switch, Master Volume, and pair of Tone controls for the trio of pickups. The vibrato has a large block for great sustain, and the unit is very responsive for smooth surfy warbles and deeper dives, jumping back into tune with ease. The chrome hardware shows faint patina, and pickup covers and knobs have uniformly aged. The original finish is a deep glossy Candy Apple Red, and this is a remarkably well-kept guitar with virtually no wear to report. The neck profile sports a pristine smooth gloss finish.
A gigbag is included.
