Up for sale, a 2008 Fender Jazz Bass left-handed ‘62 vintage reissue model JB62/LH in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This left-handed “Made in Japan” Jazz Bass was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, uncommon outside of its country of origin. Tonewoods include a basswood body, maple neck, and a thick slab rosewood fretboard. Weighing 9lbs 3oz, the bass has plenty of midrange presence and biting growl, while rolling back the Tone control yields ample thump. This JB62/LH has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a slender U-shaped profile carve with good shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges at the nut, picking up appreciably more heft and roundness as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .815” deep at the 1st fret and .990” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the slender fretwire is pristine. This bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures 1 1/2“ in width, carved from bone for optimal clarity and sustain. On the headstock, the clover-button tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Made in Japan” text and T-prefix serial are present just above the four-bolt neck plate, and the neck pocket retains the factory stamps. All of the electronics work as they should, with the standard Volume/Volume/Tone control configuration, and the stock pair of single coil pickups are wired to an upgraded harness with modern mini CTS pots and a Sprague Orange Drop cap. The hardware is in excellent condition, with bright chrome plating on the bridge and control plate. Plastics include the trio of knobs and the three-ply brown tortoise pickguard, which has some requisite scuffing on the treble side of the strum path. Cosmetic wear on the Olympic White (catalog: Vintage White) finish includes a number of minor dings on the body as a whole, largely concentrated on the lower bout of the back and along the lower bout perimeter. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is nigh flawless and highlights subtle birdseye figuring in the maple. A padded gigbag is included.
