Up for sale, a 2008 Fender Jaguar '62 vintage reissue model JG66-85 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. In many respects faithful reissue of the Jaguar's original specs from the model's 1962 introductory year, this Jaguar has one modern deviation, cleanly modified with a Tune-o-Matic bridge for improved stability. This guitar was manufactured in Japan exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, rarely seen outside its country of origin.Tonally, this Jag does everything a good Fender should, with plenty of twang and snap in the top end, and the slightly aggressive chime and sinewy snarl that sets this model apart. The stock pickups have balanced, sweet output and great clarity for strummed passages and sparkling lead lines. Engage the Rhythm Circuit for even darker, meatier tones (great for use with fuzz pedals) or click on the "strangle" switch in the Lead Circuit for even thinner tic-tac sounds. Top it off with more chrome than a Cadillac and you have the model that was Fender's flagship guitar when it was introduced in '62, with every bell and whistle Leo Fender and his team could think to include. This guitar weighs 8lbs 4oz, with a warm, clear acoustic tone that translates well through the pickups. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jag plays very well with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders and lightly rolled edges, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .930" at the 12th. The dark rosewood fretboard features pearl dot inlay and stock vintage-spec slender fretwire on the 24" scale. The frets are practically perfect, playing cleanly in every register up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The carved bone nut has a 42mm nut width (1.650"), and the headstock retains the original Gotoh-made, Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The "Crafted in Japan" text and T-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate, and the neck pocket is dated 2/28/08.All of the electronics function as intended, with individual on/off switches for each pickup on the Lead Circuit, in addition to the bass cut (or "strangle switch") on/off toggle and Master Volume and Tone knobs. The Rhythm Circuit has its own pair of Volume and Tone wheels in addition to the on/off toggle switch that engages this circuit, which adds a darker tone cap exclusively for use on the neck pickup. The vibrato unit is very responsive, actuating smoothly for surfy warbles and dives, working in concert with the upgraded Tune-o-Matic bridge, which is a nickel-plated variety with "Japan" stamped on the underside. The chrome on the control plates and vibrato is bright and clean, with just a dusting of surface patina. Stock plastics include a dark brown tortoise pickguard, knobs, and pair of pickup covers which are both original (despite more yellowing of the neck pickup cover). The gloss three-tone Sunburst finish shows some light, localized finish scuffing in the clear coat on the treble-side upper bout on the back, with some small dings and finish scratches, largely on the back and body perimeter. The deeply ambered gloss on the neck profile is clean and smooth.A gigbag is included.***We are dealers for the Mastery OMV-P Offset Vibrato and Lollar Jaguar pickups, either of which can be installed prior to shipment for an additional charge***
