Up for sale, a 2008 Fender American Vintage '62 "Thin Skin" Jaguar in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original G&G hardshell case, hangtags, case candy, and COA.The "Thin Skin" series was extremely limited and the first run was only available from 2007-2008 from three select Fender dealers in the USA. Very few examples were produced in each custom color, and by many accounts fewer than 50 instruments were made in each finish. Truly the best American Vintage reissues Fender has ever offered, this Jaguar sports a "Thin Skin" Burgundy Mist nitro lacquer finish along with other notable features including a 9.5" modern Fender fretboard radius, 6105 fretwire, and matching headstock. The guitar weighs 8lbs 13oz. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jaguar is dialed in to perfection with a fresh set of 11-49 roundwound strings and low action.Tonally, this guitar delivers plenty of Fender sparkle and twang, and the electronics on this guitar are the same as seen on the standard run '62 American Vintage Jags. There's plenty of bite from the bridge pickup, which has more punch and top end content than other Fender single coils, given the 1 Meg volume and tone pots that let more signal through. The chrome "claws" that surround the pickups are also unique to the Jaguar, focusing the magnetic fields of the pickups and also providing extra shielding against unwanted single coil hum. The Jaguar was Fender's top of the line instrument when introduced in 1962, and it's one of the more feature rich guitars ever offered by the Fender company. Both Lead and Rhythm circuits have individual Volume and Tone controls, with an extra low cut switch on the Lead circuit for even more thinned out tic-tac tones. The maple neck has a slender C profile carve with faintly rolled fretboard edges and just enough roundness in the shoulders to feel both substantial and fast, measuring .825" deep at the 1st fret and .920" at the 12th. On the thick slab rosewood fretboard, the frets retain their full factory height and show just a touch of wear on the crowns beneath the plain strings on frets 1-6. The guitar plays cleanly in all positions, and the slightly increased height and crown of the 6105 fretwire (compared to vintage wire) leads to easier bending and longer fret life. The back of the neck and entire headstock are finished in a thin coat of gloss nitro lacquer and the face of the headstock sports an immaculate "Fender Jaguar" decal over the Burgundy Mist. The original Gotoh, Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch well.On the body, all of the electronics work as they should, and the American Vintage '62 Jaguar pickups have all the twang, chime, and snap you could ever want from a Fender with a bit more output and midrange content than Fender's later American Vintage Jag coils, adding a touch of extra warmth and fullness to the tone. The chrome hardware is very clean, with a limited edition Fender neck plate as well. The vibrato tailpiece works extremely well for surfy shimmies or deeper dives and the arm collet has been adjusted so that the arm is just tight enough to stay put when you want it within easy reach. Cosmetic wear is limited to a few dings concentrated on the treble-side lower bout body edge and a few additional shallow nicks on the back, with one small spot of targeted buckle rash at the edge of the belly contour. The smooth nitro gloss on the neck profile is flawless. The original G&G hardshell case is included and as clean as the guitar, with brown tolex, brown leather ends and handle, and gold latches. The hand-dated COA, case candy, and hangtags are included.***We are dealers for the Mastery M1 bridge, Offset Vibrato, and Lollar Jaguar pickups, any or all of which can be installed prior to shipment for an additional charge***
