Up for sale, a 2008 Fender American Standard Precision Bass in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. While similar to an early '60s Precision Bass in its tonal intent, the American Standard model offers a few modern, player-friendly features including string through body construction for increased resonance and sustain, medium jumbo fretwire on the slab rosewood fretboard, and upgraded hardware. An alder-bodied bass, this Precision has a smooth, balanced tonal response with plenty of broad thump and excellent articulation via the original split-coil pickup. The bass weighs 8lbs 8oz and balances well on a strap. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this bass is strung with roundwound 45-105 strings and dialed in for comfortable action and accurate intonation.

The one-piece maple neck has a medium C profile carve with lightly rolled fretboard edges and just enough shoulder to feel substantial, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .940" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard features the original medium jumbo frets which have their full factory height and plenty of meat, showing only very faint wear on the crowns of frets 1-4 and virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The bass has a full 34" scale length, with a modern 9 1/2" fretboard radius and 1 5/8" nut width. On the headstock, the Hipshot/Fender tuning machines turn very smoothly and hold pitch well, and these lightweight, high ratio gears eliminate any potential neck dive.

The traditional electronics work as they should, with the stock pickup wired to Master Volume and Tone controls with knurled metal knobs. The dark reddish brown glossy tortoise pickguard provides a subtle contrast to the three-tone Sunburst gloss finish, and the chrome hardware has plenty of shine. Cosmetic wear includes buckle rash and scattered dings across the back, and pick scuffing across the pick path extending above the guard. Wear on top is more restrained with just a few shallow marks, mostly on the bass-side body horn. The neck profile has a very smooth, clean satin finish with only one small ding of note on the bass-side shoulder of the profile behind fret 11.

A well-padded Gator-made, Mono-style gigbag is included.
