Up for sale, a 2008 Fender American Standard Jazz Bass in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This modern USA incarnation of Fender's enduringly popular Jazz Bass is the perfect balance of modern and vintage tastes, with the same growl, midrange thump, and bridge pickup cut that has made this model a classic for decades. Featuring an alder body, maple neck, and slab rosewood fretboard, the traditional tonewoods are augmented by a string through body for greater sustain and resonance. The bass weighs 9lbs 3oz and has a broad and deep acoustic voice which translates well through the pickups. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Jazz Bass features 45-100 roundwound strings, comfortable action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .845" deep at the 1st fret and .945" at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard has a modern 9 1/2" radius, and the original medium jumbo fretwire retains its full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing light wear on the crowns on frets 1-5, with wear extending beneath the A and D strings until fret 10. The bass plays cleanly up the 34" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut has Fender's traditional 1 1/2" Jazz Bass width, and the headstock sports the original Fender "F" stamped chrome tuning machines which turn very smoothly and hold pitch well with clean chrome plating.
All of the electronics work as they should, with individual Volume controls for each pickup and a Master Tone knob. The stock Fender USA pickups have strong and balanced output, with plenty of fundamental thump on tap to balance out the pickups' famous midrange cut. Hardware includes the string through body bridge and control plate, both of which have bright, clean chrome plating, and the Olympic White gloss finish is accented by a deep reddish brown tortoise pickguard. The finish shows a combination of aftermarket relic'ing and genuine playwear, with spots of wear through the gloss where the forearm crosses the top, on the back of the treble-side body horn and at the edge of the belly contour. There are light finish scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole, and some concentrated dings on the treble-side lower bout body edge. The semi-gloss finish on the neck profile is clean and smooth.
A Fender molded hardshell case is included with TSA latches. The case shows some scuffing on the exterior, with one cracked bottom corner that doesn't affect the case's functionality.
