Up for sale, a 2008 Fender American Deluxe Telecaster in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtags. A discontinued model, this Tele combines traditional tonewoods with modern playability, and both sonically and aesthetically the Deluxe line is a notable step up from the American Standard series, boasting Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pickups, S1 switching, abalone dot inlay, and top binding framing the contoured Montego Black-finished body.

Tonewoods include a select alder body and a maple neck capped by a thick slab 22 fret rosewood fretboard, providing a resonant, balanced acoustic profile with plenty of treble detail and cut, qualities faithfully channeled through the Samarium Cobalt Noiseless single coil pickups. The pickups are bright and snappy, with a smooth midrange character and more overall sonic heft than many Teles. The Fender’s S-1 Switch offers even more tonal flexibility; when engaged while the pickups selector is in position 2 (tandem bridge and neck configuration), it engages both pickups in Series. Series wiring offers a fuller, punchier sound with a more robust midrange and low end, while traditional Parallel operation has a pleasant treble-forward shimmer. This Tele weighs 8lbs 1oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The neck has Fender’s Modern C-shaped profile carve; slender with gently sloping shoulders at the nut and just a hair more overall heft further up the fretboard, measuring .820” deep at the 1st fret and .890” at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard has a modern 9.5” radius with lightly rolled edges, abalone dot inlay, and stock medium jumbo fretwire. The frets are in exceptional condition, retaining their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, showing only very light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5. This guitar plays cleanly in every register with a straight neck and responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The scale length is 25 1/2”, and the synthetic bone nut measures 1 11/16” in width. The headstock features Fender-branded, Schaller-made locking tuning machines which provide unparalleled stability and turn smoothly. The four-bolt neck plate is contoured for unencumbered access to the highest frets.

All the electronics function as intended, with the S-1 switch accessible through a push/push control on the Volume knob cap. All the chrome shines like new, from the flat-top knurled knobs to the bridge and chrome-plated brass saddles. The pickguard has been replaced with a three-ply white guard which displays some light scuffing along the pick path. Cosmetic wear on the gloss Montego Black finish is limited to a couple small dings and a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The satin finish on the neck profile is pristine.

The original heavy-duty Fender hardshell case with TSA latches is included, along with a couple original hangtags.
