Up for sale, a 2008 Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass Dimarzio Collection model AJB-110DMC in excellent condition and in perfect working order. An upscale non-catalog model, the AJB-110DMC features a bound, bookmatched flame maple top on an alder body, outfitted with a pair of Dimarzio 'Heavy Drive' J-single coils. These pickups are wound by Dimarzio exclusively for this Fender Japan model and are not available elsewhere. A bass produced only for a few short years and sold only within the Japanese domestic market, there's a lot to love about the AJB-110DMC Aerodyne Jazz Bass. The bass has a smooth, even acoustic voice, and the Dimarzio pickups have an articulate top end, great midrange burp and presence, and lows that are focused and burly. The bass weighs 8lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, comfortable action and accurate intonation. The satin-finished maple neck has a slender U-shaped profile carve at the nut, with a gentle increase in overall heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .965" at the 12th. The unique contoured neck heel also allows easy access to the highest registers of the fretboard. The rosewood fretboard is a thick slab with medium jumbo fretwire that shows no wear. The bass plays cleanly up the 34" scale, with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut has the Jazz Bass' traditional 1 1/2" width. The headstock matches the body with a deep Walnut gloss, fitted with stock clover button tuning machines. The "Crafted in Japan" text and S-prefix serial are present above the contoured four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics function as intended with the typical Volume/Volume/Tone J Bass configuration. The chrome plating on the control plate is bright and clean, with light patina on the bridge base, and plastics include the original trio of knobs and a pale mint green pickguard. The bookmatched flame maple top is unique for an Aerodyne model, and the transparent Walnut gloss highlights the tight ripples of prominent figuring. The body is notably slender, with a belly carve and subtle forearm contour. There are a few small finish chips and dings along the body perimeter, with some small dings and light finish scratches, mostly relegated to the back. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile shows just a few tiny marks on the profile length.
