Up for sale, a 2008 Fender Telecaster Thinline Deluxe ‘72 vintage reissue model TN72B/MH in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtag. This non-catalog “Crafted in Japan” offering was only produced between 2006-2008 and is among the rarest and most highly sought after Fender Japan models of the era. It features a bound semi-hollow all-mahogany body with a maple neck capped by a bound rosewood fretboard and pearloid block inlay. The semi-hollow mahogany construction delivers a sound with breadth and woody warmth, qualities channeled faithfully via the pair of Wide Range humbuckers. These pickups are fat and full-sounding while retaining a distinctive top end character and sparkling cut unique to the design. This guitar weighs 7lbs 6oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders in every register, measuring .835” deep at the 1st fret and .960” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearloid block inlay and stock slender fretwire which retains its full factory height with well-rounded crowns, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-10, with wear becoming progressively fainter approaching the octave. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The stock nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. The headstock sports a bullet truss rod nut, and the Kluson-style tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Crafted in Japan” text and S-prefix serial are both present above the three-bolt neck plate. On the body, all of the electronics function as intended, with the Wide Range humbuckers governed by a three-way pickup selector switch and Master Volume and Tone controls. The chrome-plated hardware is notably clean, including the bridge with block saddles, flat-topped knurled knobs, and “Fender”-embossed pickup covers. The brown tortoise pickguard rounds out the plastics. The gloss Natural finish is framed on top by cream binding, with a bound F hole as well. This is an exceptionally well-kept example, with cosmetic wear limited to just a scant few faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is pristine. The original tweed hardshell case is included, along with the seriaized Japanese hangtag.
