Up for sale, a 2007 Soldano Lucky 13 100 Watt tube amp head and matching 4x12 Lucky 13 speaker cabinet in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the two-button Channel/Boost footswitch and the mod's original schematic diagram. Designed for players looking to pair Soldano’s signature rich, harmonic-laden overdrive with classic vintage clean tones, the Lucky 13 essentially offers two amps in one unit, boasting a two-channel design with tube-driven spring reverb and independent controls on each channel. Unique to this particular example is its custom Solo Boost modification, wired by Michael Soldano himself in 2012.
Powered by a matched quad of Sovtek 5881/6L6WGCs, with six JJ ECC83S valves in the preamp, this amp is a no-nonsense tone machine that roars and sizzles with the best. Soldano’s Solo Boost modification features two additional in-line Volume knobs on the head’s back panel, allowing users to preset their maximum output via the front panel Volume control while accessing only the desired percentage of said output with the Solo Boost disengaged. Turning either channel’s front Volume up to 5, for instance, with the corresponding back Volume knob cranked up 75% of the way will effectively place the amp’s volume at 4, and engaging the Solo Boost via the footswitch’s Boost button bypasses the back Volume parameters entirely.
The cabinet features solid birch construction, loaded with the original quartet of ceramic magnet 12″ USA-made Eminence Legend V1216 speakers. The dated stickers on the magnets translate to the 43rd week of 2007.
An extremely clean, studio-worthy Soldano, there's barely a mark on the black tolex, and the grillcloth is pristine. The faceplate sports clean graphics and its original set of pointer knobs.
