Up for sale, a 2007 Martin Standard Series D-28 in exceptional condition, complete with the original molded hardshell case and hangtags, and outfitted with an active piezo undersaddle pickup. This iteration of Martin’s D-28 features the tried-and-true tonewood complement of solid East Indian rosewood back and sides paired with an X-braced solid Sitka spruce top, mahogany neck, and ebony fingerboard.
This D-28 has an articulate, relaxed tone befitting a guitar that's had time to open up and resonate beyond what one often expects in a "new" instrument. It’s a very rewarding strummer with ample projection, excellent string-to-string balance, and trebles that are sweet and sonorous, with the projection and inherent kick that comes with an X-braced dreadnought. Weighing 4lbs 15oz, this D-28 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 strings and easy-playing action.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Mahogany
-Shape: Medium depth oval, measuring .850” 1st fret, .905” 9th fret
-Fretboard: Ebony, dot inlay
-Frets: Slender, faint wear beneath the G and B strings on frets 1-4
-Scale Length: 25.4”
-Nut: 1 11/16”, bone
-Tuners: Schaller, Martin-branded
-Serialization: Stamp on neck heel block dates to 2007
Body Specs:
-Wood: Sitka spruce, East Indian rosewood
-Bracing: X
-Electronics: Piezo undersaddle pickup (active)
-Hardware: Ebony bridge, compensated bone saddle
-Plastics: Black pickguard
-Marquetry: Multi-ply binding, simple rosette
The gloss nitro lacquer finish exhibits only a few minor dings on top (primarily at the lower bout) and a few faint finish scratches along the lower bout perimeter. The neck profile retains its smooth satin finish, with a couple shallow marks central to the carve behind frets 2 and 3 that are virtually undetectable to the palm while fretting.
The original molded hardshell case is included, along with the hangtags.
