Up for sale, a 2007 Jol Dantzig Tulsa Artist Proof #6 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. As a founder of Hamer guitars, Jol Dantzig has designed instruments for an awe-inspiring list of legendary artists, including John Lennon, George Harrison, Cheap Trick, members of The Rolling Stones, The Pretenders, Def Leppard, and The Police to name a few. After a stint with Fender, Dantzig founded his eponymous brand, and under the Dantzig banner he continues to build award-winning, small batch, handcrafted guitars.

For the Tulsa model, Jol envisioned a guitar that would offer a familiar Fender scale length and a decidedly Gibson-esque tonewood platform. Delivering Les Paul muscle, this Artist Proof features a heavily figured bookmatched maple top and korina body, with prominent German Carve on both the top and back, paired with a substantial korina neck and a reclaimed genuine Brazilian rosewood fretboard. At 7lbs 15oz, this guitar is extremely lightweight and lively, with the assist of a wraparound aluminum bridge ensuring a dynamically responsive, deeply resonant tonewood platform for the Lollar Imperial PAF humbuckers.

The Lollar Imperial humbuckers are universally lauded PAF-style boutique pickups which produce an airy top end, balanced midrange character, and a tight bass response, with the harmonically complex sound and articulate, dynamic qualities of the venerable PAF design. As Jol Dantzig puts it, the Tulsa delivers "the perfect blend of long scale shimmer and short scale grunt." This Tulsa has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and solid intonation.

The korina neck has a substantial V-shaped profile with faintly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .900” deep at the 1st fret and .970” at the 12th. The thick slab Brazilian rosewood fretboard features a 12" radius, with pearl dot inlay and a pearl/abalone "claw" inlay at the octave. The medium jumbo frets are pristine, and the guitar plays effortlessly in every register up the straight neck and 25 1/2" scale. The nut measures 1.650" in width, and the headstock features an ebony veneer with the Dantzig logo and Grover Deluxe Kluson-style tuners that turn smoothly and hold pitch well with greened keystone buttons.

On the body, the stock electronics work as they should, with a three-way pickup selector toggle, and individual Volume and Tone controls for each Lollar Imperial humbucker. The harness features premium Sprague orange drop capacitors and 500k CTS pots topped with amber bonnet knobs. The nickel plating is notably clean both on the pickup covers and the 30 gram aluminum wraparound tailpiece. The deeply figured German Carve bookmatched maple cap boasts three-dimensional tight tiger flame extending across every inch, highlighted by a hand-rubbed violin nitro lacquer sunburst. Cosmetic wear is limited to faint scuffing in the pick path and a few faint marks on the clear coat of the gloss on the back. Aside from an isolated spot of stand rash behind the 4th fret, the profile sports a clean, smooth gloss finish.

This Tulsa Artist Proof synthesizes the best of golden age Gibson with Fender-friendly neck dimensions, featuring a venerable selection of tonewoods including Brazilian rosewood and korina, and optimized for an ideal sonic spectrum with Lollar Imperial PAFs.

The original form-fit black tolex hardshell case is included.
