Up for sale, a 2007 Gibson Songwriter Deluxe EC Ovangkol in excellent condition and in perfect working order. An innovative Gibson guitar marrying modern, performance-centric features and a premium tonewood complement, the Songwriter Deluxe boasts Pre-War hand-scalloped Advanced X-bracing on the Sitka spruce top. Paired with solid ovangkol back and sides, a one-piece African mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard and bridge, the guitar offers tons of projection and clarity befitting the dreadnought body size. The bass register has a smoothness and rich rumble when picked with authority, and trebles are sweet and sparkling. Perfect for fingerpicking, all strings are balanced and clear with crisp note attack, and the full 25 1/2" scale length increases string tension on the top, yielding a bolder sound. The Fishman Prefix Plus-T onboard preamp is paired with an Acoustic Matrix undersaddle pickup, delivering a range of stage-friendly acoustic tones that are dynamic and clear. Weighing 5lbs 2oz and professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, we've had this Songwriter Deluxe EC Ovangkol dialed in with fresh 12-53 strings and low action.
The one-piece African mahogany neck has a modestly slender C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders in every register, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .890" at the 9th. The ebony fretboard features dot inlay and perfect slender fretwire that plays cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1.725" in width, upgraded to a hand-carved piece of bone. The headstock retains the original Grover Rotomatic tuning machines with carved ebony buttons.
The Fishman preamp features a Volume control as well as a wide-range semi-parametric EQ to isolate certain frequencies and boost or cut as needed. A feedback-fighting notch filter, phase switch, and chromatic tuner round things out. The ebony bridge is fitted with a tall compensated saddle, and a small tortoise pickguard frames the soundhole. The gloss nitro lacquer finish is extremely clean, and cosmetic wear is limited to a small spot of light buckle rash central to the back, and a couple minor marks on top just north of the fretboard extension. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
The original black tolex hardshell case is included, with gold Gibson silkscreen on the lid.
