Up for sale, a 2007 Gibson Custom Shop ES-339 semi-hollowbody electric guitar in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original case and COA. Extremely clean with a gloss Ice Tea Sunburst nitro lacquer finish, this Custom Shop ES-339 is a discontinued model, taking the platform of an ES-335 and shrinking the body size while retaining the tonal properties of its big brother.Hailing from the first year of ES-339 production and produced at Gibson's much heralded and now shuttered Memphis, TN factory, this initial version of the 339 comes loaded with '57 Classic PAF pickups (distinct from the Burstbuckers offered in later years). The '57 Classic PAF humbuckers are wax potted with Alnico II magnets, and these pickups translate the instrument's clear acoustic voice into a powerful array of big, crisp voicings. The bridge pickup has the growl, midrange cut, and dynamic responsiveness one expects, while the neck pickup is girthy and thick while still retaining enough clarity and definition for higher gain and complex chord voicings. The maple body provides the articulation and attack for which that particular tonewood is known, while the one-piece mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard add inherent warmth and girth to the sound. Weighing only 7lbs 7oz, we've professionally setup this Gibson here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The one-piece mahogany neck has a particularly massive baseball bat C-shaped '50s-style carve with substantial shoulders, measuring .930" deep at the 1st fret and 1.065" at the 12th. On the bound rosewood fretboard, the slender frets are flawless with perfectly rounded crowns, playing well in every register up the 24 3/4" scale. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock features original Gibson Deluxe bolt-bushing Kluson-style tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The Custom Shop logo is present on the back of the headstock, along with the CS7-prefix serial number which is also visible on the orange oval label visible through the F hole. The electronics are untouched, with PAF decals and dated stickers on the baseplates of both humbuckers, coupled to Gibson's Memphis Tone circuitry. This circuit utilizes 500K audio taper pots that operate with an interactive load that preserves high end as you turn down the volume. Hardware includes the original stopbar and a replacement ABR-1 bridge with just a touch of surface patina. The Ice Tea Sunburst nitro lacquer gloss finish is notably clean with just a bit of light pick scuffing on the treble side of the guard extending to the knobs, and a few additional tiny marks and faint finish scratches on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless. The original black tolex Gibson Shop hardshell case is included with modest wear on the exterior and original latches and handle, along with the original COA.
