Up for sale, a 2007 Gibson ES-137 Classic in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Featuring a semi-hollow figured maple body with a mahogany center block, the ES-137 is essentially a thinline version of the venerable ES-175. The center block adds definition and excellent feedback rejection, and the 490R vintage-voiced humbucker in the neck and a high output 498T bridge pickup offers a particularly wide tonal range. While the neck pickup delivers a smooth, bell-like response that retains clarity, the bridge position is a real screamer, offering plenty of bite and top end roar. The guitar weighs 8lbs 11oz, balances well on a strap, and has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.
The three-piece maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve at the nut, with full shoulders in every register and a gentle increase in overall heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .790" deep at the 1st fret and .935" at the 12th fret. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearl trapezoid inlay, and the original slender fretwire is practically perfect. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock retains the original chrome Grover Rotomatic tuning machines with metal tulip buttons.
All of the electronics function as intended, with the conventional Volume and Tone knobs dedicated to each humbucker. The chrome hardware is positively gleaming, and all original plastic parts are present and in great shape, with some requisite pick scuffing across the four-ply pickguard. The orange oval serialized label is intact, visible through the F hole.
The nitro lacquer gloss Tri-Burst finish highlights the tight, dimensional ripples of curly flame figuring which extend liberally across the maple top and back. Cosmetic wear includes localized buckle rash on the treble-side lower bout on the back with a few additional small dings and light finish scratches on the back as well. The top is extremely clean, and on the bass-side of the fretboard extension, there is very minor localized cloudiness and chipping in the clear coat adjacent to the neck binding from frets 12-17. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
The original hardshell case is included.
