Up for sale, a 2007 Gibson Advanced Jumbo 1936 vintage reissue dreadnought, near-mint and complete with the original hardshell case. Upgraded with a bone nut and compensated saddle, this Advanced Jumbo has also been outfitted with a K&K Pure Western Mini passive pickup system.
Originally introduced in 1936, only 300 Advanced Jumbo guitars were originally produced before the J-200 Super Jumbo took its place. This modern example is a faithful reissue, and tonewoods include a scalloped X-braced Sitka spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, one-piece mahogany neck, and bound rosewood fingerboard. As the guitar features Gibson's full 25 1/2" scale (as opposed to their usual 24 3/4" dreadnought playing field), the extra tension on the top attributed to this scale length results in an incredibly clear and rich sound with ample projection, great string-to-string clarity, and superior note definition when chording. Tonally, this guitar is warm and relaxed, with a broad-yet-dynamic midrange and crisp, punchy trebles. And while visually similar to a J-45, the AJ has a higher volume ceiling with more bass kick and less compression when digging in. This AJ weighs 4lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Mahogany
-Shape: Medium C, measuring .840” 1st fret, .925” 9th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, diamond arrow inlays
-Frets: Slender, no wear
-Scale Length: 25 1/2”
-Nut: 1 3/4” (bone, upgraded)
-Headstock: Vintage-correct "Gibson" script logo
-Tuners: Kluson-style, “butterbean” buttons (Gotoh)
Body Specs:
-Wood: Sitka spruce (top), Indian rosewood (back/sides)
-Bridge: Rosewood, compensated saddle (bone, upgraded)
-Plastics: Tiger stripe tortoise pickguard
-Serialization: Orange Bozeman, MT Gibson label matches peghead serial
The Vintage Sunburst gloss nitro lacquer finish is extremely well-kept, with only a few small dings and scuffs, while the gloss on the neck profile is smooth and clean.
The original hardshell case is included.
