Up for sale, a 2007 Fender Custom Shop NAMM Limited Edition 1962 Stratocaster Relic in near-mint condition, finished in Shell Pink and complete with the COA and a tweed G&G Deluxe hardshell case. Part of Fender's Time Machine series, this Strat faithfully replicates the feel, appearance, and tone of Fender's Pre-CBS golden age.
A limited run Custom Shop model that reproduces all the hallmarks of the "slab board" Stratocasters, this '62 model features a two-piece alder body paired with a quartersawn maple neck capped with a 9 1/2" radius AAA rosewood slab fingerboard and medium jumbo fretwire. The pickups have been substituted for a set of Seymour Duncan Antiquity Texas Hot single coils. These vintage-style single coils feature black fiber bobbins, cloth-covered leads and degaussed Alnico II rod magnets. The reduced magnet pull results in sweeter sonics and more sustain, and the pickups are lacquered and potted in lamp black paraffin wax, like Fender's golden age Strat coils. The bridge pickup is wound hot with accentuated midrange, and the middle position is RWRP, hum-cancelling in positions 2 and 4 on the five-way switch for plenty of spank and scooped percussive cut. This Custom Shop Stratocaster is featherweight at 6lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
