Up for sale, a 2007 Epiphone by Gibson Les Paul Special Lacquer Series in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original padded gigbag and hangtag. Crafted exclusively for the Japanese domestic market at the Fujigen factory alongside the top shelf Elitist line, this Les Paul Special was part of the very limited Lacquer Series run, featuring a Cherry Red gloss nitro lacquer finish.
Tonewoods include solid mahogany body and neck construction, and the P-90 pickup pair channels a natural growl and midrange heft with smooth, glassy articulation, offering both dynamic clean tones and rich, overdriven roar. Weighing 7lbs 9oz, this Les Paul Special has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The mahogany neck has a '50s-style chunky C-shaped profile carve with full, inviting shoulders in every register, measuring .860” deep at the 1st fret and .970” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard has pearloid dot inlay, and the stock medium jumbo fretwire is practically perfect, with well-rounded crowns. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures 1 11/16” in width. The headstock has Gibson's correct 17 degree pitch and “open book” shape with gold silkscreened Les Paul script text and a vertical “Gibson” truss rod cover. The Kluson-style tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should, and the stamped F7-prefix serial number notes both Fujigen manufacture and a 2007 build date.
All of the electronics function as intended, with the pair of P-90 pickups wired to full-size 500k pots. The guitar features a traditional Les Paul control array with individual Volume and Tone controls for each pickup, and the control cavity is shielded from the factory to ensure a low noise floor. Plastics include the four-ply black pickguard and original quartet of black bonnet knobs. Nickel-plated hardware includes the ABR-1 bridge and corresponding stopbar tailpiece.
Cosmetic wear on the Cherry Red gloss nitro lacquer finish is limited to a handful of tiny nicks on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the back and lower bout perimeter. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss, with a couple shallow marks along the profile length that are imperceptible to the palm.
The original Epiphone-branded padded gigbag is included, along with the hangtag.
