Up for sale, a 2006 Goodall AKGC Aloha Grand Concert acoustic guitar in exceptional condition, complete with the original hardshell case and warranty card. Goodall Guitars was founded in 1972, and Goodall's enduring legacy has been associated with painstakingly hand-built instruments, with acute attention to detail and consistent care given to every guitar. This particular Goodall was built in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, prior to Goodall’s relocation to their current shop in Fort Bragg, California. This Grand Concert body features an X-braced Western red cedar top, Hawaiian Koa back, sides, and headstock veneer, Honduran mahogany neck, and pheasant wood fretboard and bridge. The guitar has an impressive dynamic range, offering a lush, round sound with delicate shimmering trebles and the complex midrange character and sweetness associated with koa as a tonewood. The Western red cedar top further enhances the warmth of the instrument and is a soundboard well-suited to fingerpicking. Notes have a piano-like clarity, with healthy projection and a distinctly focused low end that offers a high volume ceiling with limited compression when you dig in hard with a flatpick. Lightweight at 4lbs 5oz, this Goodall has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 strings and comfortable action. The Honduran mahogany neck features a rounded C shape with modest shoulder, measuring .855” deep at the 1st fret and .890” at the 9th. The slab pheasant wood fretboard features pearl dot inlay and stock slender fretwire. The frets have good height and meat, with wear exclusively beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-12, and virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The scale is a full 25.6“, the carved bone nut measures 1 3/4“ in width, and string spacing at the bridge is 2 1/4”. The headstock features an pearl winged Goodall logo on the figured koa veneer, fitted with Schaller tuners that turn smoothly and hold their pitch well with carved ebony buttons. The pheasant wood bridge sits flush with the top, and the carved bone saddle has plenty of height for future adjustment, with action currently sitting at 6/64” on the low E and 5/64” on the high E, measured at the 12th fret. The top features multi-ply purfling and a pearl rosette, with the original label visible through the soundhole, boasting of the guitar's Hawaiian provenance. Cosmetic wear is limited to light scuffing in the pick path mostly across the transparent guard, with faint scuffs and microscopic marks on the transparent gloss finish mostly relegated to the lower bout and back of the body. The original hardshell case with green plush interior is included, along with the original warranty card.
