Up for sale, a 2006 Gibson SG Goddess in excellent condition and in perfect working order, finished in Rose Burst and complete with the original hardshell case. Only available from 2006-2008, this short-lived SG was part of the Goddess series which offered unique finishes, a slightly narrower 1 5/8“ nut width and a slim ‘60s-style neck profile carve.

Tonewoods include a Honduran mahogany body and neck capped by a bound Madagascar heather ebony fretboard, and this guitar has a warm, resonant acoustic presence with glassy treble articulation. The humbuckers are Gibson's tried and true 490R and 498T humbucker pair, featuring distinctive chrome surrounds and transparent covers that highlight the coils. These pickups have an incredible dynamic range; the 490R neck pickup is smooth and clear, while the 498T is a high output powerhouse, great for high gain and cutting crunch. This SG Goddess weighs only 6lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The mahogany neck has a very slender ‘60s-style C-shaped profile carve at the nut, with round shoulders in every register and appreciably more heft further up the fretboard, measuring .765” deep at the 1st fret and .885” at the 12th. The bound Madagascar heather ebony fretboard features pearloid trapezoid inlay and flawless medium jumbo fretwire. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures an easily-navigable 1 5/8“ in width, carved from bone for optimal clarity and sustain. The headstock sports a pink logo inlay and “Goddess” script truss rod cover, and the original set of Grover Locking Rotomatic tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch.

All of the electronics function as intended, with the 490R and 498T humbuckers wired to the original harness and governed by a three-way selector switch with Master Volume and Tone controls. The chrome-plated hardware is all notably clean, including the compensated wraparound bridge/tailpiece, pickup surrounds, and pair of top hat knobs, which have ridged grips for easy on-the-fly adjustments. The four-ply black “batwing” pickguard has some requisite scuffing on the treble side of the strum path.

The gloss Rose Burst nitro lacquer finish is a rare option only seen on the Goddess series instruments, and there is some subtle texturing of the gloss on the back and neck profile. Cosmetic wear is limited to modest stand rash on the lower bout body edge, an area of light buckle wear central to the waist, and a few minor dings and faint finish scratches on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss, with a scant few shallow marks along the profile length that have no impact on playability.

The original Gibson USA hardshell case is included.
