2006 Fender Precision Bass '70 Vintage Reissue PB70-78US Olympic White w/ Case, Japan CIJ

Up for sale, a 2006 Fender Precision Bass '70 vintage reissue model PB70-78US in near mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with an upgraded hardshell case. An uncommon model, this bass features a factory installed Fender American Standard split coil P Bass pickup, along with a few select vintage touches including a block logo on the headstock, proper thumb rest mounting, and black pickguard. One welcome deviation from vintage spec is a thick slab rosewood fretboard (as opposed to a thinner veneer board seen on actual vintage examples). Tonally, this bass delivers the goods, and acoustically the alder body is quite resonant. There's a strong fundamental thump to the tone, and the roundwound strings provide plenty of top end articulation. The bass weighs 9lbs. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this bass is dialed in with fresh 45-100 roundwound strings, optimal action, and spot-on intonation.

Crafted in Japan at the Dyna Gakki factory, this discontinued model is rarely seen outside its country of origin. The quality construction of Fender Japan's instruments provide stiff competition for Fender's vintage-centric USA reissue instrument lines (arguably in large part why they aren't offered in the USA), and this '70 Precision model meets the high bar befitting Fender Japan's reputation.

The maple neck has a medium C profile carve at the nut with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges for added comfort. The profile measures .835" deep at the 1st fret and .940" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4" radius, and the original medium jumbo fretwire is intact. The frets are flawless, with ample meat and perfectly rounded crowns. The nut measures 1 5/8" in width, and on the headstock, the tuners have the correct vintage footprint with large chrome clover-shaped keys. At the heel of the neck, the "Crafted in Japan" text and S-prefix serial number are present.

All of the electronics work as they should, with the American Standard pickup wired to the stock Fender Japan wiring harness. The finish shows no aging of the clear coat and is a bright, un-yellowed shade of Olympic White, showing just a bit of light pick scuffing across the guard and a few very minor marks on the body as a whole. The ambered neck profile finish is smooth and glossy.

An aftermarket upgrade black tolex hardshell case is included.
