Up for sale, a 2006 Fender Precision Bass ‘70 vintage reissue model PB70-70US in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag. An uncommon model, this bass features a factory-installed Fender American Standard split coil P Bass pickup, along with a few select vintage touches including a block logo on the headstock, proper thumb rest placement, and black pickguard. One welcome deviation from vintage spec is a thick slab rosewood fretboard (as opposed to a thinner veneer board seen on actual vintage examples). With an alder body as its sonic foundation, this bass delivers the goods with strong thump and excellent articulation. The bass weighs 8lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .835” deep at the 1st fret and .960” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the stock medium jumbo fretwire is practically perfect, with just a touch of wear on the crowns of frets 1-4. This bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the stock bone nut measures 1 5/8“ in width. The headstock sports a vintage-accurate block logo, and the chrome-plated tuners have the correct vintage full-size footprint with large clover buttons. The “Crafted in Japan” text and R-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics work as intended, with the American Standard pickup wired to the stock Fender Japan wiring harness and governed by Master Volume and Tone controls. Hardware includes the flat-top knurled knobs and bridge with steel barrel saddles. The knobs and bridge base both have notably clean chrome plating. The three-ply black pickguard and black thumb rest round out the plastics, with some requisite pick wear on the guard along the treble side. The gloss Olympic White finish is bright and well-kept, with cosmetic wear limited to just a scant few tiny nicks on the back and a handful of faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless. The original Fender-branded gigbag is included, along with the factory hangtags.
