Up for sale, a 2006 Fender Mustang '69 vintage reissue in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Made exclusively for the Japanese market and rarely seen outside its country of origin, this Mustang model (officially model MG69) is a testament to the workmanship and eye for detail evident in the Crafted in Japan Fender models. There's plenty to love about this Mustang, from the lightweight and resonant body to the pair of stock single coil pickups that deliver plenty of snap and twang. The guitar weighs 7lbs, and the crisp, clear voice of the instrument when strummed acoustically translates well through the pickups. Of course one of the most fun sounds on the Mustang is the out-of-phase setting, engaged when both on/off/on pickup selector switches are at their innermost or outermost points. The quack and spank of that particular setting is unique to the Mustang, and there's plenty of tonal range between the two pickups, with meatier sounds when the neck pickup is soloed. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Mustang is strung with 11-49 strings and dialed in with spot-on intonation and slinky action. The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .815" deep at the 1st fret and .935" at the 12th. The thick veneer rosewood fretboard boasts 22 stock slender frets which retain their full factory height, showing moderate wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3, with lighter wear extending to fret 9. At 24", the scale length is ideal for smaller hands and players looking to execute chord extensions that might be a bit more of a stretch at Fender's full scale. The nut measures 1 9/16" in width. The headstock features Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. Above the F heck plate, the Crafted in Japan text and S-prefix serial number are present. All of the electronics function as intended, with Master Volume and Tone controls governing the two pickups. Plastics include a dark reddish brown tortoise pickguard that shows some requisite pick wear on the treble side, while the chrome plating on the hardware is bright and clean with just a speckling of surface patina on the control plate and vibrato tailpiece. The gloss "Yellow White" finish is a fairly rare Fender Japan-only variant of Olympic White, approximating the natural yellowing of the clear coat that occurs to Olympic White over time (this factory finish shows no aging beyond the factory shade). Cosmetic wear is limited to one shallow ding of note on the treble lower bout body edge, and sparingly little additional wear on the body as a whole. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless. The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.***We are dealers for the Mastery M2 bridge and Lollar pickups, either of which can be installed prior to shipment for an additional charge***
