Up for sale, a 2006 Fender Jazz Bass '62 vintage reissue in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order with a custom color Ocean Turquoise Metallic gloss finish. This 1962 reissue Jazz Bass (officially model JB62-58) was made only for the Japanese domestic market, rarely seen outside its country of origin. The fit and finish of the "Crafted in Japan" instruments is top notch, and this Jazz Bass offers a smooth, resonant natural acoustic response. Weighing 8lbs 14oz, the bass has plenty of midrange presence and articulate growl, and rolling back the Tone control yields ample thump. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with roundwound 45-100 strings, this Jazz Bass plays well with comfortable action and spot-on intonation.The maple neck has a slender U-shaped profile carve at the nut, with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges in every register, measuring .815" deep at the 1st fret and .955" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard is a thick slab with a vintage 7 1/4" radius and the slender fretwire shows moderate wear beneath the A and D strings on frets 1-6, with wear growing fainter until fret 10. The bass plays easily up the 34" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut is carved from bone for optimal note clarity, measuring 1 1/2" in width. On the headstock, the original clover button chrome tuning machines are intact, and the ambered peghead sports the correct '62-style Fender Jazz Bass decal. The "Crafted in Japan" text and Q-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.All of the electronics work as they should, the chrome hardware is bright and clean, and the original plastic parts include the trio of knobs and parchment pickguard. The Ocean Turquoise Metallic gloss finish is a lighter shade of this custom color, existing somewhere between a greened-out Lake Placid Blue and a less saturated Ocean Turquoise. Cosmetic wear is limited to just a few minor dings on the body as a whole, mostly relegated to the back and body perimeter, while the gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.A gigbag is included.
