Up for sale, a 2007 Fender Competition Mustang Bass '69 vintage reissue model MB98-85CO in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with hangtags. Produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, this “Crafted in Japan” Mustang is a faithful and discontinued reissue of the classic short scale Fender model, boasting a factory-installed USA-made Seymour Duncan pickup and a rare non-catalog Old Lake Placid Blue finish accented by a brown tortoise pickguard.
Weighing only 8lbs 3oz, tonewoods include an alder body and a maple neck capped by a thick slab rosewood fretboard. There's a certain pluck and punch unique to this bass that's particularly appealing and sits well in a mix, with enough thump to fill out the low end nicely. It’s a bit more focused than a Precision Bass, offering good midrange heft and aggression. This Competition Mustang Bass benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.

The non-catalog gloss Lake Placid Blue finish is abbreviated “OLB” by Fender Japan for Old Lake Placid Blue, representing a darker, more vintage-correct spin on this classic Fender custom color, complete with simulated aging/greening of the Competition stripe. Extremely well-kept for nearly two decades, there are just a couple tiny marks on the body as a whole. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
All hangtags are included (dated to the 19th year of the Heisei era: 2007) , along with the Fender-branded gigbag.
