Up for sale, a 2006 Fender American Vintage '57 Stratocaster in perfect working order, complete with the original tweed hardshell case and hangtags.
This discontinued model features an alder body and one-piece maple neck for a lively, balanced natural sound that translates faithfully through the trio of black bobbin pickups with staggered, beveled alnico magnets. The neck and middle pickups are the original Fender 57/62 single coils, while the bridge position is a similar black bobbin design wound by Van Zandt. The bridge position is spanky and bright while retaining an inherent warmth and sweetness, the "in-between" positions on the switch are all quack and snap, and the neck pickup has the girth, clarity, and bell-like chime that makes it perfect for rhythm work and singing lead lines. Particularly smooth and lively-sounding even unplugged, this alder-bodied Strat weighs 7lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, accurate intonation and slinky action.
The one-piece maple neck has a medium depth soft V profile carve with lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .850" deep at the 1st fret and .915" at the 12th. The 7 1/4" radius fretboard has been refretted with flawless medium jumbo fretwire, offering long fret life and effortless bending. The neck is straight, the truss rod is ideally adjusted, and the guitar plays well in every register up the 25 1/2" scale. An upgraded polished hand-carved bone nut measures 1.650" in width. On the headstock, the original Stratocaster waterslide decal is intact along with the original Kluson-style tuning machines.
All of the electronics function as intended, and the CTS pots date to the 27th week of '06. The chrome plating on the hardware has plenty of shine on the bridge base and jack cup, with light patina across the saddles. Even the original chrome "ashtray" bridge cover is included. The vibrato responds smoothly with three springs and the stock arm. Original plastics include the bright white single-ply pickguard and trio of knobs, with some greening of the text on the knobs and uniform yellowing of pickup covers.
The nitro lacquer gloss Black finish is 100% original with no touchup or overspray, and cosmetic wear includes concentrated small dings on top behind the bridge, various marks and scuffs on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the back and body perimeter, and light buckle wear at the edge of the belly contour. The neck profile retains its smooth lacquer finish, brought down to a semi-gloss from contact with the palm.
The original tweed Fender G&G Deluxe hardshell case is included, along with all original hangtags.
