Up for sale, a 2006 Fender Aerodyne Special Stratocaster model AST-100DMC in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. A particularly rare model only offered from 2006-2007, this Aerodyne Special Strat was made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, features a Transparent Blue-finished bookmatched flame maple top on a two-piece alder body and framed by cream body binding. The top is also contoured in classic "drop top" fashion, ergonomic for the player.Loaded with a trio of stock Dimarzio Heavy Drive DCS-2 ceramic magnet single coil pickups, the guitar boasts a five-way pickup selector toggle and delivers an array of bold, cutting Strat tonalities. Each pickup meters at 5.3k ohms, with plenty of sparkle and authoritative snap. The guitar weighs 7lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a slender C profile carve with good shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .915" at the 12th. The generous slab rosewood fretboard is a tight-grained cut, featuring pearloid dot inlay and pristine stock medium jumbo fretwire. The guitar plays well in all registers up the straight neck with a modern 9 1/2” radius and contoured heel for easy access to the highest frets. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", and the nut measures 1 5/8" in width. The matching Transparent Blue headstock features Kluson-style Gotoh tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. All of the electronics work as intended, with a traditional Stratocaster control layout and five-way pickup selector switch. The guitar features a vintage-style Strat vibrato that anchors with six screws and is slightly recessed into the body, and the individual Fender-branded bridge saddles show only a touch of surface patina. The figuring on the flame maple top is tight and straight, extending evening across the top. Cosmetic wear is limited to light scuffing in the pick path, with some finish chips and minor marks mostly relegated to the back body edge. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile is pristine.A hardshell case is included.
