Out Of Stock
Up for sale, a 2006 Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A "Crafted in Japan" exclusive model not designed for export, this particular Aerodyne is unique both visually and sonically, with a PJ pickup configuration, bound body, and Dolphin Grey metallic finish with matching headstock. While most Fender basses that have the PJ pickup configuration use a Precision-style body, this Aerodyne has the sleek looks and comfortable 1 1/2" nut width of the Jazz Bass, providing both the ample thump and heft of a split coil Precision neck pickup and the midrange cut and articulation of a Jazz pickup at the bridge. This bass is well-balanced on a strap and weighs 9lbs, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with 45-100 roundwound strings.

The maple neck has a medium depth U-shaped neck profile carve at the nut, with notable heft and shoulder as you travel up the fingerboard, measuring .840" deep at the 1st fret and .999" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard is an extremely dark and tight-grained cut, featuring dot inlay and pristine stock slender vintage-style frets with their full factory height and well-rounded crowns. The bass plays effortlessly up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. Conforming to traditional Jazz Bass specifications, this Aerodyne features a 34" scale length and easily navigable 1 1/2" nut width. The matching Dolphin Grey headstock features chrome clover button tuning machines that turn very smoothly and hold pitch well. The "Crafted in Japan" text and S-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics function as intended, with individual Volume knobs for each pickup and a Master Tone control. The chrome Strat-style knobs, control plate, and bridge have plenty of shine with a light speckling of surface patina. Cosmetic wear is limited to some light scuffs in the pick path, and a few tiny nicks on the back lower bout body edge. The neck sports a flawless smooth satin finish.
