Up for sale, a 2006 Fender Stratocaster ‘57 vintage reissue model ST57-85TX/ALG in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This Crafted in Japan” Strat is a rare, discontinued upper-tiered model, outfitted with a trio of Fender Custom Shop '54 Stratocaster pickups and sporting a transparent Blonde finish over the ash body, accented by an anodized aluminum gold pickguard. Just shy of a “Mary Kaye” Strat (chrome hardware instead of gold), this is a striking Fender Japan offering, uncommon outside its country of origin.

Channeling the natural glassy snap and midrange complexity of the maple/ash tonewood complement, the replacement set of Custom Shop '54 Stratocaster pickups deliver a range of authoritative and snappy traditional Fender tonalities. Featuring black bobbin flatwork, staggered, hand-beveled alnico V pole pieces, and push back cloth-covered leads, the '54 set offers the bounce and sparkle of an early Strat, with a distinct sound in each position on the three-way pickup selector. Lightweight at 7lbs 5oz, this Strat has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .840” deep at the 1st fret and .905” at the 12th. The fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the stock slender fretwire is flawless. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the stock bone nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. On the headstock, the Kluson Deluxe single line tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Crafted in Japan” text and S-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate, and the neck heel and pocket retain the factory model stamps.

All of the electronics function as intended, with the upgraded set of Fender Custom ‘54 pickups governed by a three-way pickup selector switch and standard Volume/Tone/Tone controls. The chrome-plated hardware is positively gleaming, and the vibrato actuates smoothly and bounces quickly back to pitch from surfy warbles and deeper dives. The original trio of knobs round out the plastics, and the distinctive anodized aluminum pickguard provides excellent shielding, also adding in a small yet appreciable way to the instrument's treble response.

The transparent Blonde finish highlights the broad grain in the ash body, and cosmetic wear is limited to a small area of light buckle worming on the back at the belly contour and just a handful of minor marks on the body as a whole, largely limited to the lower bout perimeter. The neck profile also retains its smooth ambered gloss.

The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
