Up for sale, a 2006 Edwards by ESP model E-LP-98LTC “Black Beauty” in excellent, 100% original condition and perfect working order. A rare, discontinued instrument made in Japan under ESP's "Edwards" banner, this guitar is a faithful iteration of the LP Custom “Black Beauty” platform, with a genuine slab ebony fretboard, mahogany body, carved maple cap, and an Ebony satin nitro lacquer finish. The guitar is loaded with its stock pair of USA-made Seymour Duncan humbuckers, with an SH-1 in the neck position and SH-4 at the bridge. The SH-1 neck pickup was designed in the spirit of the original PAF, with sweet singing sustain, wound to deliver full-sounding chords and midrange-forward attack. The SH-4 JB bridge pickup is Duncan's original hot-rodded humbucker. The low end is full and powerful, the highs are crisp and detailed, and there’s an upper-midrange bump that adds crunch and chunk to heavy chords that translates to a singing, vocal-like quality when playing single notes or solos. The guitar weighs 9lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The mahogany neck has a chunky and substantial C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulder in every register, measuring .880" deep at the 1st fret and 1.015" at the 12th. The bound slab ebony fretboard adds to the articulation and glassy note attack of the instrument, sporting pearloid block inlay and original medium jumbo frets which show just a touch of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-3. The guitar conforms to traditional Gibson spec with a 24 3/4" scale length and 1 11/16" wide nut. The headstock is distinctive for retaining an "open book" shape framed by multi-ply binding, featuring gold Gotoh tuning machines with metal tulip buttons that turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should.

The electronics function as intended, with the factory-installed Seymour Duncan humbuckers wired to a three-way pickup selector toggle and full-size pots, with individual Volume and Tone knobs for each pickup. Hardware includes the ABR-1 bridge and corresponding stopbar, and the hardware has clean gold plating with only very light surface patina. The original plastics are all present, including the three-ply pickguard and quartet of witch hat knobs.

The Ebony finish is genuine satin nitro lacquer, and cosmetic wear is limited to one tiny scuff behind the tailpiece, a couple finish chips through the cleat coat on the treble side binding edge, and some very light scuffing on the back. The neck sports a pristine satin finish, buffed to a semi-gloss from contact with the palm.

A gigbag is included.
