Up for sale, a 2006 Edwards by ESP E-LP-117CTM in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original padded gigbag. A rare instrument crafted under ESP’s “Edwards” banner and offered exclusively within Japan, this guitar is an upscale interaction of the LP Custom platform with a bevy of premium features and appointments including a carved quilted maple burl cap, mahogany body, ebony fretboard, loads of abalone inlay and binding, and a pair of USA-made Seymour Duncan humbuckers.Lightweight for an LP-style guitar at 8lbs 8oz, this Edwards is resonant and lively, with glassy articulation faithfully captured by the stock pair of Seymour Duncan pickups. The SH-1 PAF neck pickup was designed in the spirit of the original Seth Lover-designed Gibson PAF, with sweet singing sustain, tight lows, and just enough midrange to deliver full-sounding chords while retaining clarity and articulation. The SH-4 JB bridge pickup is Duncan’s original hot-rodded humbucker, with powerful low end, crisp, singing highs, and a slight midrange bump that adds crunch and chunk to heavy chords and translates to a singing, vocal-like quality when playing melodic lines. This E-LP-117CTM has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The mahogany neck has a chunky ‘50s-style "baseball bat" C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders, measuring .900” deep at the 1st fret and 1.005” at the 12th. The slab ebony fretboard is framed by multi-ply abalone binding and features abalone split-block inlay reminiscent of a Gibson Super 400. The medium jumbo fretwire is pristine, and this guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/16” in width, carved from bone for optimal clarity and sustain. The headstock sports an “open book” shape, framed by additional multi-ply abalone binding, and the Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with gold-plated tulip buttons. The electronics function as intended, with the humbuckers wired to the stock harness (with braided leads and full-size Japanese pots). The gold-plated ABR-1-style bridge and stopbar are notably clean, and the switch tip is crafted from brass. Plastics comprise a quartet of black bonnet knobs, and the pickup covers retain the factory Seymour Duncan stickers. The clear coat on the See Thru Blue finish has gently yellowed on the top and sides for a greenish/teal hue, framed by even more abalone binding. Cosmetic wear is limited to just a few faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is immaculate. The original ESP-branded padded gigbag is included.
