Up for sale, a 2005 Takamine TNV360SC acoustic/electric in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This rare, discontinued dreadnought was produced in very limited quantities in the Takamine Specialty Shop, with unique elements not appearing elsewhere in general Takamine production. It features a hand-selected solid X-braced “bear claw” spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, Takamine’s Palathetic pickup, and The CTB-1 Cool Tube Preamp, the first and only tube preamp in an acoustic guitar, according to Takamine. The TNV360SC delivers all of the warmth and power inherent to the dreadnought design, with a strong lower-midrange kick and a sparkling treble response, plus the glassy articulation inherent to the ebony fingerboard. It’s big and bold, with a distinct brassiness to the sound and a healthy low-end growl accentuated by the bronze strings. The Palathetic pickup and CTB-1 Cool Tube Preamp do a great job of capturing the natural sound of the instrument, with a three-band EQ and Frequency controls to really dial in an ideal tone for any stage. This Takamine weighs 5lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with bronze 12-54 strings, easy-playing action and accurate intonation. The mahogany neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders in every register, measuring .860” deep at the 1st fret and .945” at the 9th. The bound ebony fretboard features abalone diamond inlay, and the slender fretwire is pristine. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures 1 3/4“ in width. On the headstock, the gold-plated Takamine-stamped Gotoh-made tuning machines function reliably. The ebony bridge sits flush with the figured "bear claw" spruce top, and the two-piece compensated bone saddle has room for future adjustment. Action at the 12th fret measures 7/64” on the bass side and 5/64” on the treble side. The electronics all function as intended; the CTB-1 preamp is powered by a quartet of AA batteries, with a built-in tuner. The model label is visible through the soundhole, and the serial stamped label is present on the neck block. The soundhole is framed by an abalone rosette, with matching abalone purfling around the top. This guitar is well-kept and crack-free, with cosmetic wear limited to just one small ding on the top on the bass-side of the strum path and a scant few faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is immaculate. The original Takamine-branded hardshell case is included.
