Up for sale, a 2005 Martin Vintage Series 00-18V with a Shaded Top gloss nitro lacquer finish. A notably rare Vintage Series iteration of the 00-18 platform, made all the rarer by the Shaded Top finish, this Martin boasts a solid Sitka spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, an ebony fingerboard and bridge, soft V neck profile carve, and full 1 3/4" wide nut.

The guitar delivers ample projection and power, with ample warmth and definition. Trebles are sweet and punchy, the midrange is balanced, and the wound strings are full and rumbling, offering plenty of focus and clarity with a rich growl when you dig in hard. The EQ curve of the instrument is very sympathetic to fingerpicking, and the warmth of the mahogany back and sides keeps everything full-sounding regardless of how hard you play. The guitar is featherweight at 3lbs 10oz. Professionally setup and freshly restrung with 12-53 strings, this 00-18 is dialed in and ready for stage and studio use.

The mahogany neck has a soft V profile carve, measuring .855" deep at the 1st fret and .980" at the 9th. The ebony fretboard features original fretwire which has its full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing only light wear beneath the B and High E strings on frets 1-5. The guitar plays easily up the 24.9" scale, and the nut measures a full 1 3/4" in width. The Martin script logo is flawless on the rosewood headstock veneer, and the Martin-branded open-gear butterbean tuning machines turn very smoothly and hold pitch well.

The ebony bridge sits flush with the top, and the carved bone saddle has plenty of height. The Shaded Top gloss sunburst nitro lacquer finish is framed by tortoise binding and accented by a tortoise pickguard. There is pick scuffing across the guard and additional light pick wear on the treble side upper bout, along with a few stray nicks on top and very faint wear in the clear coat in the black of the burst on the lower bout edge. The guitar is crack-free, with just a few faint finish scratches on the back and sides. The neck has a smooth satin finish and there are only a few minor marks on the profile length.

A Martin-branded hardshell case is included.
