Up for sale, a 2005 Gibson SG Standard in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Evoking the look of a late ‘60s SG with a large “batwing” pickguard, this Standard features mahogany body and neck construction, yielding plenty of natural foundational warmth and midrange bark, channelled through the 490R and 498T pickup complement. The pickups have an incredible dynamic range; the 490R neck pickup delivers smooth and clear tones, wound by Gibson to share qualities with the venerable PAF, while the 498T is a high output powerhouse, great for high gain and cutting crunch. This SG roars with the best of them, delivering a sound that is undeniably classic Gibson. Weighing just 6lbs 9oz, this SG has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The mahogany neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve at the nut, with generous shoulders in every register, gaining appreciably more heft in the higher registers of the fretboard, measuring .835” deep at the 1st fret and .999” at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard features pearloid trapezoid inlay and medium jumbo fretwire which has plenty of meat and well-rounded crowns, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-4. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures a full 1 11/16” in width. On the headstock, the Gibson Deluxe tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with lightly greened keystone buttons. The electronics function as intended, with the pickups governed by a three-way selector switch and dedicated Volume and Tone controls for each humbucker. Both pickups have Gibson USA-embossed baseplates, and the chrome-plated hardware is notably clean, including the Nashville Tune-o-matic bridge, stopbar tailpiece, and pickup covers. Plastics comprise the quartet of black reflector cap knobs and the four-ply black “batwing” pickguard, which has some light scuffing along the strum path.Cosmetic wear on the gloss Ebony finish includes a number of nicks along the lower bout body edge, an area of light buckle rash on the back central to the waist and lower bout, and a handful of faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss finish. The original Gibson USA black tolex hardshell case with plush interior is included.
