Up for sale, a 2005 Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1959 Les Paul Standard R9 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original Lifton-style hardshell case and COA. A top-tier Gibson Custom Shop model that faithfully replicates the myriad finer points of a 1959 Les Paul Standard, this R9 has a notably chunky baseball bat neck profile carve (something typically reserved for R7 and R8 models), along with a particularly lively bookmatched flame maple top. Deeply figured, yet also with the kind of figuring that's in-line with many vintage examples, this Les Paul has very dense curly flame extending over every inch of the top, visually kinetic and revealing different flame depending on the angle and lighting.
Tonally, everything stems from the acoustic properties of the instrument, and this Les Paul has a pronounced voice when strummed unplugged, with great bark in the low end, and sparkling, round-sounding plain strings that deliver a zing and also a richness that makes lead lines come through with great clarity and body. The original Burstbucker 1 and 2 PAF pickups do an excellent job of translating the natural sonic qualities of the instrument, There's plenty of power and articulation in the bridge position, with thick and round sounds from the neck pickup that are ideal for lead work while staying defined. This Les Paul weighs 9lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The deeply figured curly maple top is highlighted by a rich Heritage Cherry Sunburst gloss nitro lacquer finish. There is virtually no aniline dye bleed on the binding, and cosmetic wear includes buckle rash at the bass-side waist on the back, and a few additional minor nicks and scuffs on the back and rims. The top presents extremely well, with just a couple pinhead-sized marks. The gloss finish on the neck profile is nigh flawless.
The original Lifton-style brown hardshell case is included, along with the COA and a Gibson-branded polish cloth.
