Up for sale, a 2005 Fender Telecaster Custom ‘62 vintage reissue model TL62B-75TX in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the factory paperwork. This “Crafted in Japan” Tele was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and is uncommon outside of its country of origin, featuring a pair of factory-installed USA-made Texas Special pickups and a rare Snow White gloss finish and cream binding on the double bound body.
Weighing 7lbs 11oz, tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and slab rosewood fretboard. The Texas Special pickups feature all the hallmarks of vintage Tele pickup design, with a brass baseplate and staggered alnico poles on the bridge pickup, black fiber bobbins, and push-back cloth-covered leads. A pickup that has a bit more kick than a traditional Tele thanks with a slightly overwound design, the Texas Specials offer plenty of snap, and snarl, with chewy twang at the bridge and bell-like fullness at the neck. This TL62B-78TX benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Medium C, measuring .840” 1st fret, .960” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood slab, 7 1/4” vintage-spec radius, pearloid dot inlays
-Frets: Slender, no wear
-Scale Length: 25 1/2”
-Nut: 1.650” (42mm), bone
-Tuners: Kluson-style, Gotoh
-Serialization: “Crafted in Japan,” R-prefix
-Body markings: Model stamps in neck pocket
Body Specs:
-Wood: Alder
-Pickups: Texas Special single coil (USA-made) x2
-Hardware: “Pat. Pend” bridge with threaded (spiral) saddles, flat-top knurled knobs
-Plastics: Three-ply white pickguard, top hat switch tip
The gloss custom color Snow White finish is framed on both sides by cream binding, and while any Fender Japan Telecaster Custom from this era is a relatively uncommon instrument, the cream binding (as opposed to black) notches up the rarity further. There are just a handful of faint finish scratches and a few additional minor marks on the body, while the ambered gloss on the neck profile is smooth and clean.
A Fender gigbag is included, along with the factory paperwork.
