Up for sale, a 2005 Fender Stratocaster ‘62 vintage reissue model ST62-58US in showroom clean condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag and hangtags. This “Crafted in Japan” Strat is rarely seen outside of its country of origin, featuring USA-made American Vintage 57/62 single coil pickups and a custom color Lake Placid Blue finish.Designed to pay homage to the golden era Pre-CBS Strat, this Stratocaster has a basswood body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard; delivering a balanced, clear natural acoustic response, faithfully captured by the stock trio of American Vintage 57/62 single coils. The pickups have black bobbins, staggered alnico magnets, and cloth-covered leads, offering classic Strat tonalities with throaty zing and harmonic richness at the neck; sparkling cut at the bridge, and hollow Strat quack at the in-between positions on the five-way pickup selector switch. This Strat weighs 7lbs 10oz, professionally setup here at Mike & MIke’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a moderately chunky C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders and faintly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .855” deep at the 1st fret and .965” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius and the stock slender fretwire is flawless. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width, and on the headstock, the Kluson-style tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Crafted in Japan” text and R-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics work as intended, and the trio of USA-made Fender single coil pickups are wired to the original harness with a standard Strat control layout. The tremolo has a full-size block for optimal sustain, and the chrome hardware has notably clean plating. Plastics include the bright white knobs and the three-ply white pickguard, which has some limited scuffing on the treble side of the strum path. The custom color Lake Placid Blue finish is a bright and bold iteration of this classic Fender custom color, and the guitar is exceedingly well-kept, with cosmetic wear limited to just a scant few faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is immaculate. The original Fender-branded gigbag is included, along with the factory hangtags.
