Up for sale, a 2005 Fender Stratocaster '57 vintage reissue model ST57DMC-VSP in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A rare, top-tier model made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, this guitar features a nitro lacquer two-tone Sunburst finish, alder body and premium USA-made CTS pots and five-way switch. Upgrades include an anodized gold aluminum pickguard and a brand new set of Fender American Vintage black bobbin 57/62 pickups. Officially known by the ST57DMC-VSP moniker, this guitar is part of Fender Japan's Vintage Special Project series of guitars, representing the finest craftsmanship that Fender Japan has to offer.

The Fender 57/62 single coil pickups are wound to vintage spec with staggered alnico pole pieces and cloth-covered leads. The five-way pickup selector switch delivers a broad range of classic Strat tonalities, with the balanced and articulate tonewood platform of a solid alder body and one-piece maple neck. The bridge pickup is sparkling and glassy, while the neck pickup yields throaty, powerful tonalities ideal for lead work, and the "in-between" 2 and 4 settings on the switch have a defined, snappy quack. Weighing 7lbs 12oz and professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Strat features low action, accurate intonation and fresh 10-46 strings.

The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders in every register and faintly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .905" at the 12th. The maple fretboard has a vintage spec 7 1/4" radius, and the original slender frets show virtually no wear, playing cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 42.5mm in width (1.675"). The headstock features Kluson-style tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The neck heel is stamped with the ST57-DMC model designation, with faded model markings in the neck pocket too. The "Crafted in Japan" text and R-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

The original wiring harness is intact, with the upgraded Fender American Vintage 57/62 pickups wired to full-size USA-made CTS pots which date to the 16th week of '05. The vibrato features a full-size trem block for optimal sustain and resonance, and the vibrato actuates very easily for expressive warbles and dives. The chrome plating on the hardware is bright and clean on the bridge base and jack cup, with uniform patina across the saddles. Plastics include ivory knobs and cream pickup covers.

The finish is genuine nitro lacquer with a traditional '50s two-tone Sunburst gloss. Cosmetic wear includes some small dings and light finish scratches on the back, mostly clustered just beyond the edge of the belly carve. Wear is more restrained on top, with just a few minor marks. The neck profile has a smooth, nigh-flawless nitro gloss.

Fender Japan's DMC/VSP series instruments are quite rare, especially outside of Japan. Specifications and features match Fender's American Vintage line of guitars in every respect, benefitting from the celebrated quality of Fender Japan's craftspeople.
